Becoming Alabama Water Utilities

You are here: Home / News / Becoming Alabama Water Utilities

Change is here. Our Alabama business unit is becoming Alabama Water Utilities.

As SouthWest Water Company celebrates nearly 20 years of doing business in Alabama, we are excited to announce our name change to Alabama Water Utilities. We’re still the same company with the same “can do” attitude, but we will just be operating with a different name. We decided it’s time that we have a name that embraces our presence in Alabama as a wastewater utility that protects our water sources.

As this change comes into play, here’s some information on what to expect.

Who is making the change?

SouthWest Water Company will begin to operate its’ Alabama business unit as Alabama Water Utilities. This includes the following areas:

  • N Shelby/280 area
  • Morris
  • Brookwood
  • Weatherly/Ballantrae

Who is not changing?

Shelby Ridge Utilities will continue to operate as Shelby Ridge Utilities with no changes.

How is this changing?

As Alabama Water Utilities, we will continue to oversee the operations of SWWC Utilities, Inc.   Once the change occurs, all official documents you will receive from us will have the Alabama Water Utilities logo.

When will it happen?

Expect to see these changes everywhere starting September 26, 2022.

What will change?

All points of contact or communication will feature the new name and logo. This change will be reflected on bills, online portal, Customer Care phone line and forms, social media, trucks, door hangers, and team members’ uniforms. This is our new logo:

How will we refer to ourselves?

Any communications will be coming from Alabama Water Utilities. This is how we will operate in Alabama, meaning you won’t see as much mention of our old subsidiary names or SouthWest Water Company.

Why is this changing?

President of Alabama Water Utilities, Craig Sorensen, says it best: “We wanted a name that best encompassed and unified our multiple operations in Alabama. Under one name, we will continue to clean and treat wastewater to return it to the environment safely.”

What about our company is staying the same?
