Installation of New Meters at Callawassie and Spring Islands

Installation of New Meters at Callawassie and Spring Islands

We are pleased to announce that we have begun replacing the existing meters at Callawassie and Spring Islands with Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) meters. Installations are expected to continue into late November. Once all installations are completed, customers will receive information on how to monitor their usage and set up leak alerts.

The installation crews will be working with the SCWU — CUC staff to ensure this process goes smoothly. The process will consist of:

  • Locating the existing water meter and verifying the serial number with the current account
  • The installation crew will knock on the door to alert the owners that the water will be off during the change-out. If no one is home, they will proceed with the change-out.
  • Changeout will occur.
  • The installation crew will restore water service and verify flow to the home by opening an outside faucet.
  • Once this installation is completed and service restored, the crew will again knock on the door to inform the owners that the meter change-out is complete. If there is no answer, they will place a door hanger notifying them that the work is completed.

The installation crew is Advanced Metering Installations, also known as AMI.

If you have questions, please email Kiawah Island Utilities Director of Operations Becky Dennis at Becky.Dennis@NexusWG.com.
