Below is an update on capital investments and other improvements we made for Midlands systems, so far this year. It’s our pleasure to serve our customers, and it is our goal to continue to provide the most reliable, safe, and efficient service.
Underground Inspections and Repairs
A crew has started inspecting and videotaping our underground infrastructure. This helps reduce the risk of sanitary sewer overflows, ensures proper flow to the wastewater treatment plant, and allows us to repair and replace damaged sections. A common issue we find is roots in the lines, which we can address before the problem worsens. We have spent over $145,000 so far this year and plan to spend around $445,000 in total.
Pump Station Upgrades
We are improving our current mission units, which will provide us with alerts and reports using new technology, ensuring increased efficiency. Another benefit is that this will help us better manage our pump stations and alarm systems, and alert us to situations that could lead to an overflow. So far this year, we have spent $200,000 on this project.
General Pump Repairs
Our large network of sewage pumps is exposed to harsh working conditions, and it is important to keep up with preventive and corrective maintenance in order to prevent needing to replace the entire pump. We are vigilant and responsive to maintaining our pumps and managing costs. These investments have been almost $230,000 so far this year.
