SouthWest Water Women Leaders Attend Women’s Energy Summit

Pictured left to right: SWWC Board Member Sherina Edwards, Suburban Communications Manager Lauren James, Suburban Vice President of Service Operations Jocelyn Padilla, and Texas Accounting Manager Carmelitha Bordelon.

Recently, SouthWest Water Company sent three women leaders within the company to join Board Member Sherina Edwards at the Women’s Energy Summit in Chicago. The event was focused on women in the energy and other utility sectors and spoke on different topics ranging from their personal journey, the importance of workforce and supplier diversity, and the energy environment.

The theme of the event was #makingHERstory and the topics and panelists are doing just that. Among many great panels and informative discussions, the highlight of the event was the conclusion which was a panel of all Female Commission Chairs from Illinois, Wyoming, Pennsylvania, Michigan, and Wisconsin. Right now, there are more female chairs of state public utility commissions than at any other time in our nation’s history.
