Monarch Utilities, Inc., formerly TECON Water Company, was acquired by SouthWest Water Company in July 2004. It has become a part of SouthWest’s Utility Group, an operating division that owns and operates water and wastewater utilities in California, Texas, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Alabama.
SouthWest Water Company provides essential water, wastewater and public works services to more than 2 million Americans in 10 states. Through its Services Group, SouthWest Water maintains public-private partnerships with more than 450 cities, municipal utility districts and other government agencies. In its Utility Group, SouthWest Water owns regulated public utilities. Aside from Monarch Utilities, these include Suburban Water Systems in Southern California, New Mexico Utilities in and near Albuquerque, New Mexico, and Windermere Utility Company and Hornsby Bend Utility Company near Austin, Texas.
