When we signed the final purchase papers with TECON Water Company in 2004, we at Monarch knew our work was just beginning. We realized that the nearly 90 water and wastewater systems needed some work, and we quickly went about developing a plan to deal with what needed to be done.
Since then, Monarch has spent about $20 million on capital improvements projects, the majority of which were compliance-driven. Here are some examples of how the money was spent:
- $3.5 million on wells
- $4.2 million on water and sewer lines
- $8.3 million on new and repaired water and sewer treatment plants
- $2.4 million on reservoirs and pressure tanks
- $1.5 million on pump stations
Our priority is to bring all systems into compliance, improve system efficiencies and enhance, not simply patch, sub-par systems. We are proud of the work that’s been done, but we plan to invest millions more. We are committed to delivering safe, high-quality and reliable water and wastewater service to our customers.
We will continue to invest the majority of our dollars in compliance-driven areas, but we also intend to invest in our technical infrastructure. We plan to streamline our billing practices and further improve our call center operations. These technical enhancements will result in a significant improvement in communication between Monarch and you, our customer. |
